AFL Sydney Round 9 Rising Star Jai Lyons (UTS Bats)

AFL Sydney is pleased to announce that the 2016 Round 9 Rising Star is Jai Lyons from the UTS Bats.

Jai has moved schools from the Central Coast to Sydney to pursue his football. He trained with Sydney Uni NEAFL during the pre-season and was asked to stay on and train each week with the NEAFL squad to continue to develop as they saw potential in him. Jai was leading the time trials at NEAFL pre season and has exceptional speed as well as elite endurance. He was UTS’ best player on the wing in their win against North Shore on Saturday in just his third Premier Division game. His class, speed and hardness stood out in the slippery conditions against a strong side in North Shore. Jai has now been in the best players two weeks in a row and the sky is the limit for his potential.
