After sixteen rounds an outright winner could not be decided as Gosford’s Tess Mutton and Penrith’s Nikki Perrett were named joint winners of the James Medal on Monday night.
Mutton and Perrett finished on 17 votes, 2 in front of Newtown’s Steph Foster.
It was impressive season from Perrett who played representative football for both AFL Sydney (as captain in Game 2) and NSW/ACT.
This is Perrett’s second consecutive best and fairest medal after claiming the same award in 2014. Perrett polled in seven games with maximum votes in Round 7, 8, 9 & 14. After a slow start, Perrett stormed home to poll 5 votes in the final three rounds.
28 year old Mutton also had a fantastic year, playing both rep games for AFL Sydney against AFL Canberra.
Mutton polled votes in 7 games also with maximum votes received in Rounds 5, 6, 10 & 11. Mutton took the lead in Round 11 however didn’t poll any votes after that and had a nervous wait to see if she could hold on.
Blacktown’s Simone Freeman and Auburn youngster Haneen Zreika finished off the top five, polling 14 votes each
