Sydney University’s Stephanie Walker has claimed the Women’s Division One Best and Fairest.
The 20 year-old Walker polled 24 votes finishing seven votes ahead of Women’s Team of the Year vice captain, Macquarie University’s Amanda Farrugia.
Sydney University teammate and captain of the Women’s Team of the Year, Jennifer Lew finishing one vote further back.
It has been an incredible year for the 2013 Women’s Rising Star playing 15 games and polling in 10 of them. She was voted best on ground on five occasions and polled 14 votes in the second half of the year.
An attacking half forward, Walker can also spend time in the midfield and has the ability to break a game open in an instant with her pace and willingness to run and carry.
Walker was also a part of the Women’s Representative side this year where she was adjudged Best on Ground by the umpires in the victory over AFL Canberra in Game 1. She also topped her brilliant season off by being selected in her first Women’s Team of the Year last week.
Steph completed the perfect season by being a key member of Sydney Universities premiership win over UNSW/ES on Saturday afternoon.
At 20 years old, the future looks bright for Stephanie Walker.
