Blacktown Magic are premiers of Division Five after defeating Penrith by 49 points at Blacktown ISP on Sunday.
The Magic led from start to finish in an impressive performance and ran out 11.12 to 4.5 winners.
The first quarter was all Blacktown as they repeatedly sent the ball inside 50 giving their forwards plenty of opportunities to score. Three goals to zero to the Magic in the quarter put them in front by 20 points at quarter time.
It was more of the same in the second quarter with the Magic getting to the ball first and were the ones who looked like they wanted the premiership more. Jay Roughley was lively up forward and looked very dangerous when the ball was anywhere near him. Penrith's first goal came through captain coach Kevin Kirk however Blacktown still outscored the Rams and their lead had opened up to 28 points at the main change.
Penrith needed to come out firing and kick the first couple of goals but unfortunately for them this was not the case with Blacktown once again dominating the play and the scoreboard stretching their lead to 42 points as the teams went into the three quarter time huddle.
Its was much of the same in the last with players from both teams feeling the effects of the match and scoreboard ticking over regularly. Four goals to Blacktown in the last capped off the win and when the full time siren went, the celebrations started.
Forward Jay Roughley finished with four goals and was named best on ground and was well supported by midfielders Daniel McIntyer and Mbimbi Mbimbi. For the Rams, Bryce Roney down in defence stopped plenty of attacking thrusts from Blacktown with Dane Fysh and Tayt Corless providing good help all day.
After coming from fourth spot on the ladder, Blacktown can now call themselves Premiers while for Penrith, they will be looking for redemption in 2015.
