Randwick City
Currently: 1st
The Run Home: Western Suburbs (A), Southern Power (H), Pennant Hills (A)
Analysis: The Saints will be looking to go one better in 2014 and finishing top will be a big step towards that. They will want to show the rest of the competition why they are the premiership favourites in the last few rounds. The Round 18 clash against Pennant Hills will give them a taste of finals footy.
Prediction: Minor Premiers and will enjoy first week of finals off.
Penrith
Currently: 2nd
The Run Home: Macquarie Uni (A), Sydney Uni (A), Nor West (A)
Analysis: Although the Rams Division One side has been struggling this year, the reserves have been flying, only losing two matches this year to Nor-West by 6 points and Randwick City by 149 points. They play two sides inside the top five with their last round matchup against Nor-West shaping as the battle for second spot.
Prediction: We are tipping Nor-West to win the Round 18 clash meaning the Rams will finish third and have a rematch with Nor-West in the first week of finals.
Nor-West
Currently: 3rd
The Run Home: Gosford (A), Pennant Hills (H), Penrith (H)
Analysis: Despite a heavy injury toll, Nor-West have been a force in the competition. Losses against fellow top five opponents Pennant Hills, Randwick City and Sydney Uni have shown that they can be vulnerable against quality opposition. With probably the toughest run home, the Jets can show the competition they are premiership contenders.
Prediction: Have them pencilled in to beat Pennant Hills and Penrith in close games with the match against Gosford a chance to boost their percentage. A live chance to claim the flag.
Pennant Hills
Currently: 4th
The Run Home: Southern Power (A), Nor West (A), Randwick City (H)
Analysis: After claiming the Division Four premiership in 2013, the Demons are once again in the position to taste premiership success. The Round 10 victory against Nor-West showed that they can be a premiership threat.
Prediction: Games against two sides above them on the ladder will test them but can’t see them finishing any lower than fourth.
Sydney University
Currently: 5th
The Run Home: Balmain (H), Penrith (H), Gosford (A)
Analysis: Sydney Uni have had an up and down year in 2014. They only have one win against the rest of the top five and will need to step up their performances if they want to challenge for the title. The game against Penrith could be a game where they prove doubters wrong.
Prediction: No danger of falling out of the finals and will finish fifth.
Below teams are out of finals contention
Western Suburbs
Currently: 6th
The Run Home: Randwick City (H), Gosford (A), Balmain (A)
Prediction: The game against Gosford in Round 17 could be the decider of who finishes sixth. Playing away against the Wildcats will be an ask too tough which will mean they will finish seventh.
Gosford
Currently: 7th
The Run Home: Macquarie Uni (Catch Up Round - A), Nor-West (H), Western Suburbs (H), Sydney Uni (H)
Prediction: A win against Western Suburbs in Round 17 could secure sixth spot, a fair result considering their slow start to the year.
Balmain
Currently: 8th
The Run Home: Sydney Uni (A), Macquarie Uni (H), Western Suburbs (H)
Prediction: Will be looking to finish their season on a high but can only see them winning one of their last three games. Eighth
Southern Power
Currently: 9th
The Run Home: Pennant Hills (A), Randwick City (A), Macquarie Uni (A)
Prediction: The last round matchup against Macquarie Uni gives both teams a chance to taste victory one last time which could also determine who gets relegated at seasons end. Power probably just too strong and should finish ninth.
Macquarie University
Currently: 10th
The Run Home: Gosford (Catch Up Round - H), Penrith (A), Balmain (A), Southern Power (H)
Prediction: Will probably need to win at least 2 games to avoid the wooden spoon. Cant see this happening and will finish at the bottom of the ladder.
