6 - Matthew Round
Club: Western Suburbs
Previous: Clarence- Tasmania (2006-08, 2011), Balmain (2012-13), NSW Country (2012)
Age: 24
Position: Wing
Analysis:
Round is one of the most exciting players to watch in the AFL Sydney competition. The speedy winger loves to run and carry and is one of the best penetrating kicks in the competition.
Having come from Clarence in the Tasmanian State League where he played alongside Taylor Williamson and registered over 50 games with the club, he joined Balmain and was part of their run from fifth to feature in the Grand Final where they couldn’t quite complete the fairytale against UNSW/ES.
In 2014, along with Leigh Conway and Kris Ericson, he made the move to Western Suburbs where he is one of the leaders of the Magpies’ revival. He has been in Western Suburbs best players for the vast majority of games, and has averaged a goal a game (better than his career average). He loves a goal and at only 24, has plenty of time to kick a few more in the local competition.
