7 - Lloyd Shepherd
Club: Pennant Hills
Previous: Pennant Hills (2007-09), NSW Country (2010), Albury- Ovens & Murray (2010-13), Pennant Hills (2014-)
Age: 28
Position: Full-Back
Analysis:
Shepherd is the highest ranking key defender in the list and it is easy to see why. He is an uncomprimising competitor and the rock around which the defence has been built around at each of his clubs.
Now in his second stint at Pennant Hills, Shepherd previously had the unenviable task of replacing O&M representative full-back Jay Koehler at Albury which he did with aplomb- also representing NSW Country in his first year at the club.
A tall full-back with good size and agility, he has the flexibility to match physically strong and speedy opponents. This was best showcased on ANZAC Day this year where he comprehensively beat Western Suburbs big name recruit, Taylor Williamson to claim the Best on Ground Medal. In his most recent outing against the GIANTS, Shepherd lowered the colours of the leagues best full forward in Brayden Fowler.
Shepherd also represented AFL Sydney in the representative scene this year and has been noted as a great clubman at Albury and Pennant Hills.
