2014 shapes as the biggest year of women's football in Sydney with a record 16 team nominations accepted.
In the theme of keeping the top division of each men's and Under 19's as the best of the best, the 2014 AFL Sydney Women's Division One competition will remain as a six team competition while Division Two will jump to 10 teams.
Macquarie University, AFL Sydney's only undefeated premiership side in 2013 have been promoted to Division One and will take on Sydney University, Balmain, UNSW/ES, Western Wolves and Newtown.
The Division One competition will again see each team play 15 rounds with the season likely to commence on Saturday 12th April. Once again the finals will be incorporated with the men's and the Grand Final will be Saturday 13th September.
An increase of four teams for 2014 will see Division Two jump to 10 teams with Gosford, Manly-Warringah, Moorebank and a second UNSW-ES entering the competition.
With a Grand Final set for either Saturday 6th or Sunday 7th September and a 4 weeks finals series due to 10 teams, the Division Two competition will likely commence on Saturday 5th April, one week prior to Division One. This allows for all teams to play 15 matches each during the home and away season.
