Weir Take The Honours

The Blacktown Magic AFC Presentation Night was held last Saturday at the Ettamogah Hotel. It was a relaxed evening, celebrating the achievements of the club over the last 12 months. Highlights for the year included:

The success of the new Division 5 side, qualifying for finals in their first season
The clubs first Premiership, with the Division 3 side winning the Minor Premiership and Grand Final in 2013
The club being awarded the Swisse AFL Quality Club of the Year Award
Ashley Moeller being awarded the Leading Goal Kicking Award in Division 3 with 121 goals

The contributions of many were recognised on the night including Dean Connors, who will be stepping down from his coaching commitments in 2014 after a very successful 2 years with the side on and off the field. President, John Clifford, announced the new coaching panel for 2014, with Ashley Moeller and Leighton Corr appointed Club Coaches.

The highlight of the night was the Best & Fairest Awards across both grades. Reserve Grade saw a two-way tie for 1^st place, with first year players Aaron Hill & Steven Ruaporo taking the honours.

Kent Weir was a popular winner for the First Grade Best & Fairest and the Players Player Awards. A full list of winners can be found below.

Club Captain, Bradley Whale, spoke passionately of the continual growth of the Magic family, as we continue to welcome in many new players and their families to the club. It left no doubt in the room that 2014 is going to be another fantastic year at the Magic.

Most Improved: Dean Barber

Rookie of the Year: Tim Baracz

Coach's Award: Craig Reynolds

Golden Boot: Darren Edmondson (26 goals)

Players Player: Greg Driscoll

Runner-Up Best and Fairest: Shannon Deusson

Best and Fairest: Aaron Hill and Steven Ruaporo

First Grade (Division 3):

Most Improved: Daniel McIntyre and Ben Molyneaux

Rookie of the Year: Michael Collins

Coach's Award: Josh Mann

Golden Boot: Ashley Moeller (121 goals)

Player's Player: Kent Weir

Runner-Up Best and Fairest: Ashley Moeller and Daniel Clifford
